Kaptur Announces Nearly $14M in Federal Funding for TARTA

March 4, 2022

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $13,833,483 in Covid-19 response funding to the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority from President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan. Last year, Rep. Kaptur joined nearly every House Democrat to pass the American Rescue Plan, while Republicans were unanimous in their opposition.

The American Rescue Plan funding will assist TARTA as it recovers from the short and long-term impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. The funding will help offset costs related to staffing, recruitment, training, and health and safety measures.

“The American Rescue Plan has been a lifeline for our region, and continues to deliver for Toledo’s needs,” said Rep. Kaptur. “Throughout the pandemic, TARTA continued to provide its invaluable service ensuring that people were able to get to work, school, grocery stories, and doctors’ appointments. By investing in public transit, we invest in the workers, families, and seniors who rely upon it. I am proud to have fought to pass the American Rescue Plan, and will keep working to deliver the resources our region deserves.”
