About the Ninth Congressional District

The Ninth Congressional District encompasses most of Northwestern Ohio, and much of the southern border of Lake Erie. The district is an amalgam of Northwest Ohio with communities in Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Ottawa, Lucas, Sandusky, Williams, and Wood counties.

Between Sandusky to the east, Toledo to the west, and other communities large and small, from the Glass City of Toledo, to the home of Spangler Candy Company in Bryan, to Oregon on the Maumee Bay. The Ninth District has a mix of urban and rural communities, and is home to the Biggest Week in American Birding which brings hundreds of thousands of visitors to Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge and Black Swamp Conservancy in Perrysburg every year.

It is home to:

  • Auto and auto parts factories in Defiance, Sandusky, and Toledo
  • Aerospace facilities including parts of NASA Glenn Research Center and Plum Brook Research Station
  • The country’s leading amusement park, Cedar Point
  • The alluring Lake Erie Islands
