Dependence on importing foreign oil cost America over $321 billion last year. Petroleum and energy alone added $140 billion to our trade deficit. That lost income translates into thousands of lost jobs. By developing domestic energy sources rather than defending exploitation and extraction abroad, we could create jobs at home instead of sending our dollars overseas.
Previously, Congresswoman Kaptur introduced the Rural Energy Investment Act of 2013. This bill would invest in renewable energy programs with proven track records, such as biofuels, creating thousands of jobs that cannot be outsourced.
From her status as the senior Democrat on the Energy and Water Appropriations Committee, Kaptur is committed to fighting for job creation and energy investment across the Great Lakes Heartland. Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced a $10.5 Million loan through the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Powering Affordable Clean Energy (PACE) program for the Village of Pioneer in Williams County. Toledo, Ohio – Today, the Lucas County Board of Commissioners voted to enter into an agreement to move forward with a project that will provide a reliable sanitary sewer system in the unsewered areas of Curtice-Williston. Kaptur’s effort will lower ratepayers’ contribution to the project and reduce sewage discharge into the community and Lake Erie. This project was initially funded through a $2.5 Million federal award included by Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) in FY2023 Community Project Appropriations funding.
