Congress Passes Final 6 Federal Funding Bills as Part of Further Consolidated Appropriations Act

March 23, 2024

Kaptur Secures More Than $1.27 Million for Community Funded Projects to Assist First Responders in Defiance and Sandusky Counties

Washington, DC — Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development released the following statement after the House and Senate passed the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 to fund Defense, Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, Financial Services and General Government, State, Foreign Operations, Legislative Branch and Homeland Security. This legislation includes over $1.27 Million in federal funding Kaptur secured for 2 community-led projects. The legislation will now be sent to the President to be signed into law.

This week, the House and Senate passed omnibus appropriations legislation to fully fund the federal government for Fiscal Year 2024. As part of the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 Congresswoman Kaptur secured $1,274,390 in federal funding to support 2 community-led projects focused on emergency services in Defiance and Sandusky Counties.

“This week, House Congressional leaders finally agreed to move critical legislation to fully operate our government through September 30, 2024. The action to fund the remaining Federal departments and avoiding a costly, unnecessary, and harmful government shutdown means Congress has officially finished its work from last year,” said Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09). “The American people deserve a Congress that meets its Constitutional responsibilities on-time and through bipartisan action, not endless conflict. This legislation addresses the needs and concerns of our people to keep America strong and prosperous. The legislation also includes added help for our families, workers, and communities struggling to meet the costs of living — childcare, Head Start, education, and workforce training, and ensures millionaires and big corporations pay a more appropriate share in taxes. Now, as President John F. Kennedy urged Americans over a half century ago: ‘Let us go on to lead the land we love, knowing that here on earth God’s work must truly be our own.’”

Congresswoman Kaptur’s community-led project funding

  • City of Defiance Fire and Rescue Division – Public Safety and Emergency Operations Complex
    • $637,195 for the City of Defiance Fire and Rescue Division Public Safety and Emergency Operations Complex to build a new combined Fire/EMS and Law Enforcement building. The new Public Safety and Emergency Operations Complex will incorporate an Emergency Operations Center (EOC). This facility will have the ability to coordinate the operations of large-scale disasters and incidents from a central location for law enforcement, Fire/EMS, county officials, and specialty response groups. This will benefit all 38,000 citizens of Defiance County, and it will give public safety officials a modern, high-tech facility to mitigate these incidents.

  • Sandusky County Commissioners – EMS Facilities Upgrades
    • $637,195 for Sandusky County EMS Facilities Upgrades to allow the Emergency Management Agency to be in a space where they can house all their emergency equipment for easy access. This facility will provide easy and faster access to the community for EMS to provide Emergency Services to the Community and keeps the two offices in closer communication when working together. Job and Family Services will provide a private and relaxed visitation area for families and individuals that need supervised visitation and OSU Extension will have a one stop facility for 4-H group training and classes.
