February 15, 2008: Fighting Hunger in Ohio: Kaptur to Welcome USDA Undersecretary to Toledo on Tuesday

Nancy Montanez Johner, the federal official in charge of the food stampprogram and several other anti-hunger initiatives, will joinCongresswoman Kaptur in a visit to the Toledo Seagate Food Bank, 526High Street, at 1:30 p.m.
Congresswoman Kaptur and Undersecretary Johner will discuss thechallenges facing Northern Ohio food banks and food pantries during theeconomic downturn.
Ms. Johner serves as Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and ConsumerServices in the U.S. Department of Agriculture; she is one of sevenundersecretaries to the Secretary of Agriculture, Ed Schaefer. She isresponsible for the administration of 15 nutrition assistanceprograms—including WIC, school lunch and school breakfast, andcommodity distribution.
