February 2: Kaptur Announces $1.26 Million Federal Award For Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky

The award of $1.26 million will be used to upgrade mechanicalsystems at OVH and cover 65 percent of the cost of construction. Theremainder of the project will be funded through the state of Ohio.
“This work will not only stimulate the local economy, but improve thequality of life for our veterans at the home in Sandusky,” Kaptur said.“What an honor it is to serve those who have served our nation.”
The State Home Program is a cooperative effort between the federalgovernment, through Veterans Affairs, and the state of Ohio. Kaptur isa member of the House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee.
The Sandusky facility, which has operated for more than 115 years,provides standard care and special care in its licensed nursing home.It also offers Veterans Hall, a domiciliary for people who are unableto live independently, and DOM-Plus for those who require only limitedassistance and not the level of care that is provided to nursing homeresidents.
The exact amount of the federal award announced today will depend on final construction costs.
