June 25, 2010
Congresswoman Kaptur attended a special ceremony in Statuary Hall of the U.S. Capitol Building on June 25 to mark the 60th anniversary of the start of the Korean War.
“Today we remember our veterans who fought so courageously in the Korean War and pay tribute to the servicemen and women currently stationed in South Korea and around the world,” said Kaptur.
The war began when North Korea invaded South Korea on June 25, 1950. More than 37,000 American troops were killed and 8,000 reported missing in the war, which ended on July 27, 1953 when an armistice agreement was signed.
