Kaptur and Congress Lead Toward Energy Independence

Kaptursaid, "In passing this bill, the House of Representatives took an importantstep toward moving our nation into the 21st Century. This legislation incorporates many of thealternative energy proposals that we have been debating for years."
"Thisbill puts Americaon a path toward energy independence and a day when she can be free from anaddiction to foreign oil," said Kaptur. The bill provides a 36 billion gallon alternative fuel requirement by2022, significant alternative energy tax incentives and loan programs forfamilies and businesses, a fifteen percent renewable electricity standard andreal incentives for domestic automobile manufacturers to invest in new technologiesfor fuel efficiency.
Thebill creates new jobs, with investments in renewable energy incentives and researchfor solar, wind and biomass technologies. Ohiowill benefit from the creation of good paying jobs through a commitment tobiofuels, nationwide training for 3 million new "green" jobs and making smallbusiness leaders in renewable energy.
CongresswomanKaptur has introduced legislation geared to energy independence, parts of whichhave been incorporated in principle into the energy legislation passed todayincluding: a renewable fuels standard, the required incorporation of biofuelsinto motor fuels and a requirement for the use of alternative fuels in thefederal fleet.
