Kaptur Announces $188M in Federal Funding to Assist Ohioans with Their Home Energy Bills

Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $188 million to Ohio for the Home Energy Assistance Program.
Today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded $188 million to the State of Ohio’s Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) – a federally-sponsored program partially funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that assists Ohioans with their home energy bills. Individuals, families, and seniors with household incomes at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines are eligible to apply through the HEAP program to have a financial benefit applied directly to their home energy bills.
“Rising costs are impacting everyone’s pocketbooks, especially working families and seniors,” said Rep. Kaptur. “As we work to get supply chains back up and running, there is immediate relief coming online right this very moment. The Home Energy Assistance Program provides a direct benefit to home energy bills that will save families and seniors real money while ensuring they are able to remain safe and warm in their homes throughout the coming winter months.”
