Kaptur Announces $2.1 Million Federal COVID-19 Grant for Lorain County Community College

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced Lorain County Community College (LCCC) had been awarded a competitive federal grant of $2.1 million through the U.S. Department of Education's Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund established by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).

"While COVID-19 up-ended every aspect of daily life, Lorain County Community College ramained steadfast in its commitment deliver high-quality, affordable education, and lifting up the Lorain commiunity during unprecedented times," said. Rep. Kaptur. "This critical funding will assist Lorain County Community College as it rebounds from the pandemic, and ensures that the necessary resources and staffing are available to continue its vital work preparing students for good-paying careers in the post-pandemic world."

"We are thrilled to receive this grant award and grateful for Congresswoman Kaptur's support and continued advocacy for Lorain County Community College students," said President Marcia Ballinger. "Through this award, more students will benefit from dual enrollment opportunities and enhanced accessibility and support, working in collaboration with local school districts and community partners. Additionally, the grant will support more students earning credentials essential for in-demand jobs through LCCC's Fast Track program."
