Kaptur Announces $242M for Ohio’s Water Infrastructure from Jobs & Infrastructure Bill

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced Ohio will receive $241,554,000 this year from President Joe Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to address a wide array of water infrastructure needs. Rep. Kaptur and House Democrats strongly supported the bill, while 94 percent of House Republicans opposed it.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act included $50 billion in water infrastructure funding for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to distribute to states over five years.
This year, Ohio will receive $241,554,000 from the EPA to improve water quality in communities throughout the state through projects and programs that reduce and eliminate lead and forever chemicals such as perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances – commonly known as PFAS – from drinking water.
“Thanks to the jobs and infrastructure bill passed by Democrats in Congress, Ohio will now have the resources to rebuild our aging water systems, and replace dangerous lead pipes that serve homes, schools, and businesses,” said Rep. Kaptur. “By investing in and restoring our water infrastructure, we are supporting living-wage jobs for workers and families, and ensuring Ohioans have the safe, clean drinking water they deserve.”
