Kaptur Announces $2.5M for 7 Local Army Corps of Engineers Projects
Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced the awarding of $2,484,000 in federal funding that she secured for seven local projects as part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ annual budget.
Today, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) released its fiscal year 2022 work plan outlining projects the Corps will soon undertake. As Chair of the House Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee which funds the Corps, Rep. Kaptur secured an additional $2,484,000 above what the Corps had requested for its annual budget, with the funding being used to support seven projects across Ohio’s 9th Congressional District.
“The work the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers performs is crucial to driving economic growth and conserving the environment,” said Rep. Kaptur. “As Chair of the Energy and Water Subcommittee, my focus is on ensuring federal dollars are responsibly used to rebuild maritime infrastructure and protect Lake Erie. I will continue working with the Corps and the community to identify and support projects that move our region forward.”

- Invasive Carp Regional Coordinating Committee – $200,000 for Corps efforts to detect, monitor, prevent, and control invasive carp in the Great Lakes and beyond
- Maumee Towpath Park – $249,000 for a Corps feasibility study
- Toledo Harbor – $450,000 for Combined Disposal Facility maintenance and dredging
- Port Clinton Harbor – $385,000 for east and west pier design and planning
- Huron Harbor – $450,000 for west pier repair and dredging
- Lorain Harbor – $450,000 for breakwater repair and dredging
- Cleveland Harbor – $300,000 for west pier repair
