Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced that the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will allocate a total of $9,420,227 in Public Housing Repair funding to the public housing authorities in Erie, Lucas, and Sandusky Counties. This significant investment will support essential capital improvements to ensure safe, modern, and energy-efficient public housing across Northwest Ohio.

Specifically, the following grants have been awarded:

  • Erie Metropolitan Housing Authority: $613,737

These funds are part of HUD's Capital Fund Program, which annually provides crucial resources to public housing authorities across the nation. The funding will be utilized for development, financing, modernization, and management improvements of public housing developments. Public housing authorities can undertake large-scale projects such as roof replacements, energy-efficient upgrades to heating systems, and installation of water conservation measures.

Congresswoman Kaptur emphasized the importance of these investments for the local communities:

"This funding is a lifeline for our public housing infrastructure. It will help ensure that residents in Erie, Lucas, and Sandusky counties have access to safe, efficient, and modern housing. I am committed to supporting our public housing authorities as they make these critical improvements, and will continue to work so that we can see more investments like this brought back home to Northwest Ohio," said Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09).

The HUD Capital Fund Program plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing public housing across the country, and these grants will make a significant difference in the lives of many Ohioans. Congresswoman Kaptur continues to advocate for robust federal support to address the housing needs of her constituents and improve the quality of life for all residents.
