Kaptur on CNN: Cut Taxes for Middle Class Americans

July 9, 2012
Congress should extend tax cuts for middle class Americans to keep the economy growing, Congresswoman Kaptur said on CNN’s “Starting Point” (July 9).

“We want to protect the middle class,” she said, noting that President Obama has repeatedly advocated lightening “the burden on the middle class.”

Congresswoman Kaptur said the economy is recovering in Ohio and other states, particularly with the rebound in the auto sector.

She said Democrats have consistently supported extending tax cuts for the middle-income families to help keep the recovery alive. “It’s pretty clear that we want to keep the economy growing,” she said.
After the interview on CNN, Congresswoman Kaptur said Republicans in the House majority should avoid holding middle-class tax cuts hostage to their desire for tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.
