Kaptur Honors Neil Armstrong, Celebrates Renaming of NASA Facility

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) released the following statement after participating in the official renaming of NASA's Plum Brook Station to the Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility. Rep. Kaptur was joined in Sandusky, Ohio by NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and John H. Glenn Research Center Director Marla Perez-Davis. The renaming is a result of a bipartisan effort spearhead by Rep. Kaptur and Senator Rob Portman which led to the passage and signing of S.2472, the Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility Act, in December 2020.
"Fifty-two years ago, Neil Armstrong captivated the world as he set foot on the lunar surface – drawing our eyes to the sky, and opening our minds to what was possible when we dared to reach beyond Earth's gravitational limits," said Rep. Kaptur. "The name of this true American hero will now forever adorn these grounds, reminding the next generation's scientists and researchers of the cosmic baton they have been handed, and guiding them as they endeavor to return us to the moon one day soon."
