Kaptur, Quigley, Costa Call On Speaker Johnson To Bring House Back Into Session To Vote On Critical Aid For Ukraine
Toledo, OH – Today, Democratic Co-Chairs of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-05), and member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and of the Ukraine Caucus Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) released the following joint statement calling on US Speaker of the House Mike Johnson of Louisiana to bring members of Congress back to Washington to vote on supplemental aid for Ukraine, and our allies around the globe.
“Mr. Speaker, the fight for liberty in Ukraine’s war against Vladimir Putin’s brutal invasion has reached a critical point due to a lack of ammunition on the front lines. Do not abandon liberty’s call in Ukraine. Allow members of this House to vote on pending legislation for Ukraine, which you singularly hold the power to advance to the floor,” said the Members. “On behalf of Ukraine’s valiant Freedom Fighters and its 40 million courageous people who have long suffered at the hands of tyranny, we implore you to call the House back into session. History will fiercely judge the United States of America, and the US House of Representatives under your Speakership, for its inaction in defense of freedom on our watch. In the last century, over 500,000 US soldiers sacrificed their lives on the continent of Europe so succeeding generations could enjoy the blessings of liberty. Do not abandon liberty now. Bring this legislation to the floor and allow this House to come together in the protection of democracy."
