Kaptur Statement on the 20th Anniversary of 9/11
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) released the following statement on the 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
“Twenty years after the enemies of democracy and freedom unleashed terror on our homeland, the horror we feel today is as clear and traumatizing as it was that Tuesday morning.
“The lives of nearly 3,000 of our fellow Americans were brutally cut short, leaving husbands and wives, parents and children, and friends and neighbors to bear an unimaginable loss, and mourn a future that would never come to pass.
“In the hours, days, and weeks that followed, countless Americans of all stripes and creeds answered the call to serve our nation in one of her darkest hours – from firefighters, police officers, nurses, and doctors – to the patriotic men and women who joined our armed forces to bring justice to the perpetrators.
“On this solemn day, we honor the memory of those we lost, lift up in prayer the loved ones left behind, and express our deep gratitude to those heroes and heroines – known and unknown – whose service to country before self has ensured the blessings of abiding Liberty in our land.”
