Kaptur statement on House passage of GOP tax giveaway to corporations and billionaires

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), today issued the following statement after voting no on H.R. 1, the Republicans' tax plan:

"The People's House let the American people down today with the hasty passage of a partisan tax bill, rammed through Congress without a single hearing.

"For all their talk of shedding light on their actions and an open transparent process, Republicans proved their primary interest is in serving their masters on Wall Street and corporate boardrooms.

"This bill, if it becomes law, will impact millions of middle-class Americans just so billionaires and corporations can get a tax cut that they don't need. The bill will certainly change, but this is the moment in time when the Republican Majority chose big tax breaks for the wealthy and table scraps for the rest."
