Kaptur Statement on House Passage of PACT Act for Veterans

March 3, 2022

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) – a Member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee – released the following statement after the House passed the Honoring our PACT Act. In a vote of 256-174, Rep. Kaptur joined every House Democrat to pass the bill which will provide access to VA healthcare and benefits to millions of veterans exposed to toxic substances. The bill will now be sent to the Senate for its consideration.

“America’s courageous servicemembers go into battle every day against those who threaten lives and seek to overthrow Liberty,” said Rep. Kaptur. “Many leave the theater of war bearing the most gruesome of wounds and scars. For those who have heroically returned to the homeland – but carry with them the injuries of toxic exposure – America has an obligation to make good on President Lincoln’s command to care for those who have borne the battle. The PACT Act ensures that our veterans who have sacrificed so much for the preservation of freedom are delivered the care and healing they so rightfully deserve.”
