January 3, 2021

Washington, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), released the following statement after she took the Oath of Office and was sworn in as a Member of the House of Representatives for the 117th Congress:

"As I take the oath of office and am sworn in as a Member of the 117th Congress of the United States, I am fully mindful of the solemn obligation I hold to the people of Ohio's 9th District," said Rep. Kaptur. "Our district is geographically large and challenging, extending from the heart of Cleveland in the east to the heart of Toledo in the west, as it winds along Lake Erie's south coast. It is the people here who have elected me and to whom I am primarily responsible."

"I wish to express my deepest appreciation to them for their confidence in my abilities to continue to serve them. Let us work hard together to heal our communities and our nation so all can prosper. May 2021 bring progress. Let us resolve to remain strong to defend liberty and build unity as our duty at this unusual time of testing for America and our world."
