Kaptur Votes to Lower Gas Prices, Hold Big Oil Accountable
May 19, 2022
Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) released the following statement after the House passed the Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act by a vote of 217-207. Rep. Kaptur joined nearly every House Democrat to pass the bill, while every House Republican opposed it.
“With Big Oil raising prices and gouging consumers, it’s no wonder one CEO recently called his company a ‘cash machine,’” said Rep. Kaptur. “It’s outrageous. While some in Congress want to protect Big Oil, I’m fighting to lower prices and hold accountable the companies that are gouging consumers while adding zeroes to CEOs' paychecks.”
