Toledo, Ohio – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced that the University of Toledo Health Science Campus has been awarded a significant federal award of $788,021 per year over the next 5 years from the US Department of Health and Human Services for a total award of $3,940,000. This major award, issued by the National Institute on Aging, will support innovative research aimed at understanding the mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease, focusing on active kinome networks in Alzheimer's dementia.

Toledo, Ohio – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced the US Department of Transportation will award $24.5 Million to Lucas, Ottawa, Wood and Sandusky counties as part of its Safe Streets and Roads for All Program (SS4A). The funding award follows a previous $400,000 award in SS4A funding received by Lucas, Wood, Ottawa, and Sandusky Counties in the first round of SS4A funding in February 2023.

Toledo, Ohio – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, announced that Ohio has been awarded $4,301,375 in federal funding through the US Department of Energy’s Sustainable Energy Resources for Consumers (SERC) program. This funding, made possible by Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will support two innovative projects aimed at increasing clean energy access and improving energy efficiency for low-income households in Ohio’s Appalachian region and the City of Toledo.

Toledo, Ohio – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced that the Sandusky County Board of Health has been awarded $375,000 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The award, under the program “Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance,” will support the "Enhancing Prevention Initiative and Infrastructure Consortium" (EPIIC) project aimed at addressing substance abuse prevention in the county.

Defiance, Ohio – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced that the Ney-Washington Township Fire Department has been awarded $671,428 through the Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. This critical funding will be used to enhance the fire department's emergency response capabilities through the acquisition of a new tanker/pumper vehicle. The new state-of-the-art tanker/pumper unit is essential for maintaining and improving emergency response operations. This vehicle will provide the department with the capability to effectively combat fires and address other emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

Toledo, Ohio – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) released the following statement after her briefing from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Director Jennifer Homendy regarding this morning’s fatal Ohio turnpike collisions and hazmat release. Chair Homendy will represent the agency on scene accompanied by NTSB Member Inman. Investigators are expected to arrive later this evening. Congresswoman Kaptur and her office remain in close contact with local, state, and government officials.

Toledo, Ohio  Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) joined the Northwest Ohio Area Office on Aging to celebrate 89 years of Social Security and to voice opposition to efforts to cut benefits and raise the retirement age in exchange for tax breaks for the wealthy. President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act into law 89 years ago today, on August 14, 1935. The Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio supports the Social Security Administration’s mission by providing key services and support to people as they go through a transitional period of life.
