By advancing the performance and cost of clean-hydrogen technologies while supporting grid resilience and decarbonization, DOE continues to make strides toward achieving President Biden’s Investing in America agenda — to reach a 100% clean electrical grid by 2035 and net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) and Congresswoman Stephanie Bice (OK-05) introduced the Law Enforcement Training for Mental Health Crisis Response Act of 2023. The bipartisan bill would provide grants to law enforcement departments at the state, local, territorial, and tribal level to obtain vital behavioral health crisis response training to resolve behavioral health crisis situations more safely and effectively. Funding for this training would be authorized under the Byrne JAG program funding.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) joined Representatives Mike Kelly (PA-16), and Brian Higgins (NY-26), and Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR), and Mike Crapo (R-ID), to introduce legislation in the House and Senate designating U.S. Route 20 between Newport, Oregon and Boston, Massachusetts as the “National Medal of Honor Highway.” This stretch of U.S. Route 20 passes through Northern Ohio and towns and cities in Ohio’s 9th Congressional District including Pioneer, Fayette, Toledo, Maumee, Perrysburg, Woodville, Fremont, and Clyde. In all, U.S. Route 20 stretches across 260 miles in Ohio.

Washington, DC – Representatives Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) and Bob Latta (OH-05), have led a bipartisan group of fifteen House members from Ohio and Michigan urging U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to support a proposal for the Great Lakes Clean Hydrogen Hub (GLCH). The proposal, developed in response to a Bipartisan Infrastructure Law-established clean energy demonstration initiative, would fund hydrogen production, distribution, storage, and use in the Great Lakes Region.
