WASHINGTON, DC– Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) joined the United States Department of Agriculture’s Office of Rural Development to announce the award of $49,356 to provide technical assistance to Toledo-area based Northwest Ohio Cooperative Kitchen (NOCK) in designing food safety protocols and HACCP-level training for food businesses in preparation for increased requirements from purchasing agents and regulatory standards. The twenty-five current operators, future businesses, and additional regional processors will benefit.

A new food pantry and clothing donation center opened its doors today with food and fellowship, in hopes of creating a culture of what organizers called “abundant sharing.”
The Marketplace for All People is a new program of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in downtown Toledo. It invites people to shop for food, clothing, and household items.

LAGRANGE TWP. — Lorain County has received a $4.3 million loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to finance a planned new sewage system for the Pheasant Run housing development in LaGrange Township, U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur’s office announced Thursday.
The money, which must be repaid over a 40-year period at a 2.25 percent interest rate, will be used to run a nearly 4.5-mile long sewage line from the 533-home subdivision to a wastewater treatment plant in LaGrange.
