Toledo, OH — Today, the United States Department of Energy (DOE) released a final rule promulgating Energy Conservation Standards for Distribution Transformers. Incorporating feedback from consumers, producers, non-governmental organizations, and industry leaders, the final rule will increase distribution transformer efficiency and lower energy costs while supporting domestic steel manufacturing, preserving distribution transformer supply chains, and avoiding impacts to national security and electrical grid resilience and reliability.

Tonko (NY-20),  and Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin (MI-07) introduced the Weatherization Enhancement and Readiness Act, legislation that invests in home weatherization efforts to save low-income families hundreds of dollars on their energy bills while making homes safer, healthier, and more energy efficient.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) applauded a significant victory for consumer rights as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) announces the distribution of $384 Million to over 191,000 consumers nationwide wronged by the deceptive practices of Texas-based online lender, Think Finance. This compensation includes more than $61.9 Million designated for 26,136 Ohioans, sourced from the CFPB’s victims relief fund — a potent tool in rectifying the financial damages inflicted by unlawful corporate behaviors.

This follows a similar incident of antisemitism carried out by a Neo-Nazi group in Sylvania and Toledo in July of 2023.
