Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), today joined her Congressional colleagues in introducing legislation to protect retirees invested in multiemployer pension funds. Democratic Congressional leadership released the Rehabilitation for Multiemployer Pensions Act, also known as the "Butch Lewis Act" in honor of an Ohio Teamster. The bill would establish stability in troubled plans through the issuance of low-interest, 30-year loans by a newly created Pension Rehabilitation Administration.

Washington, D.C. – During congressional debate on a related bill, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) today sought inclusion of her bipartisan amendment to provide relief to communities impacted by the potential closure of nuclear plants. The amendment would establish the National Electric Generation Facility Cessation Mitigation Program within the U.S. Department of Energy, and provide grants of up to 80% of lost tax revenue to local governments. The grants would decrease by 10% each year.

Toledo, OH – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) received confirmation from the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that funding for Toledo Public Schools Head Start Program has been certified and will resume immediately. Congresswoman Kaptur, Senator Husted, and Senator Moreno made multiple daily inquires to HHS to ensure funding would meet the December 1st deadline. Toledo Public Schools receives $10 Million every six months for this critical early education program.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) joined representatives Mike Turner (OH-10), Claudia Tenney (NY-24), and Gwen Moore (WI-04) to reintroduce the Susan Muffley Act of 2025. This bipartisan legislative effort is aimed at restoring pensions for over 21,000 Delphi Salaried Retirees, including approximately 5,180 in Ohio. Named in honor of the late wife of a Delphi retiree, the legislation seeks to provide financial relief to those whose pensions were reduced or eliminated following Delphi’s bankruptcy.
