Kaptur Statement on Meeting with Apostolic Nuncio, Cardinal Pierre
Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) a senior member of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee released the following statement following a meeting yesterday, December 14th with Apostolic Nuncio (Ambassador of the Holy See), Cardinal Christophe Pierre.

“Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting with His Eminence, Cardinal Pierre to discuss the importance of promoting peace and justice between Israel and Palestine.” said Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur. “My priority is the safety and security of our community in Northern Ohio and the prevention of violence against one another. Essential to promoting peace in our community and between Israel and Palestine is the exercise of reconciliatory interfaith dialogues between all peoples. I greatly appreciated the wise counsel of Cardinal Pierre and for his collaboration, on behalf of the Catholic Church, as we renew our efforts to create a just and lasting peace in the region.”
Congresswoman Kaptur sought engage the Holy See in search of pathways for achieving a two-state solution that would benefit both the Israeli and Palestinian people, and bring an end to the renewed terrible violence we are witnessing in the Israel-Hamas War. This follows Congresswoman Kaptur’s speaking on November 3rd with Egyptian Ambassador Motaz Zahran, on November 16th with Jordanian Ambassador Dina Kawar, and on December 12th with the Lebanese Charge D’Affairs Waël Hachem.
