Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), joined by Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Representatives David Joyce (R-OH) and Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), sent a letter to Department of the Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin urging the certification of the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency's (NOACA) request for direct federal funding from the Department of the Treasury through the Coronavirus Relief Fund. The counties of Northeast Ohio, with the exception of Cuyahoga County, lack direct access to relief mechanisms enacted by the CARES Act.
Washington, D.C. — Today, Representative Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), Chairwoman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, introduced a bipartisan resolution recognizing the important role Victory Gardens played in America's World War efforts and reaffirming their purpose as essential to strengthening food security, health education, and community morale during the 2020 Coronavirus disease (COVID–19) crisis.
Toledo, OH – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) and Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), sent a letter to Department of the Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin urging the certification of the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments' (TMACOG) request for direct federal funding from the Department of the Treasury through the Coronavirus Relief Fund. Toledo and Lucas County is without direct access to relief funding enacted by the CARES Act, because it falls short of the 500,000 benchmark by just 70,000 residents under the existing formula. TMACOG represents more than 800,000, including residents of Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Wood, and Fulton counties in Ohio.
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) announced $24,777,826 in emergency federal funding for Universities, Colleges, and vocational training programs across Ohio's 9th Congressional District as a result of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) passed last month by Congress. The emergency grants are to help cover significant financial losses resulting from the prevention of, preparation for, and response to COVID-19. A minimum of half of the funding to each institution is required to be distributed to students in the form of emergency cash grants to help students pay for housing, food, and other basic essentials.
Cleveland, OH – Today, Representatives Marcy Kaptur (OH-9) and Marcia Fudge (OH-11) announced roughly $111 million for the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) as a result of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or CARES Act, passed last month by Congress. Included in the legislation was $25 billion to support transit agencies and their workers. Transit agencies across the U.S. have all seen a dramatic drop in revenues as social distancing has been implemented nationally. This funding will be used to protect the jobs of the employees of the transit agency and fund their paychecks during this public health emergency.
