Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), Dean of the Ohio Delegation and a senior member of the House Defense Appropriations Committee released the following statement regarding the deaths and injuries sustained by U.S. service members in the U.S.-patrolled Syrian city of Manbij. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the blast.

Northeast Ohio politicians are mourning the death of murdered Polish mayor Paweł Adamowicz, who was stabbed at a charity concert on Sunday. Adamowicz was mayor of Gdansk, a sister city to Cleveland.

U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, an Ohio Democrat who is co-chairwoman of the congressional Poland Caucus, called on Tuesday for a thorough investigation into the murder of Gdańsk Mayor Paweł Adamowicz. In a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives, Kaptur expressed condolences and noted that Gdańsk is a longtime sister city of Cleveland in her home state.
