Kaptur Applauds UN Security Council Vote For US Peace Plan

June 11, 2024

Washington, DC — Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) released the following statement reaffirming her support for a Two-State Solution for the Israeli and Palestinian people, and applauding the United Nations Security Council vote to support the US diplomatic peace plan for Israel and Gaza.

“On Monday, the world welcomed the unanimous passage by the United Nations Security Council of the US diplomatic plan proposed by the Biden Administration to end hostilities in Gaza in the continuing conflict between Israel and Hamas. This strong endorsement by the world community of the US plan to end the recurrent bloodshed in that region reignited on October 7, 2023 with Hamas’ terrorists invading Israel must be advanced forward by the United Nations.

“The UN created Israel in 1948, following the horrors perpetrated against the Jewish people during World War II, and is an appropriate body to weigh the myriad of concerns necessary to address a lasting peace in that war torn region. The world community of nations should broker a truce soon and set in place a two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinian people with necessary security assurances to achieve a lasting peace among adjacent nations and impacted people across that troubled region. This costly war between Hamas and Israel must end, so that the dialogue to advance a two-state solution can take place, and finally come to fruition.”
