Washington, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to pass her legislation to rename the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation as the Great Lakes Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation. The purpose of the legislation is to celebrate the Seaway's central role in promoting commerce, economic development, and national security not only in the Great Lakes region but across the entire United States.

Toledo, OH — Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), released the following statement announcing that Toledo Public Schools (TPS) has been awarded $10,376,904 in federal funding over three years to improve pay structures, recruit and retain great teachers, and provide greater professional opportunities to educators. The funding was awarded through a competitive grant application through the Department of Education's Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) program, of which Kaptur wrote a letter of support.

Washington, D.C. — Today, Representatives Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), released the following statement after the House Committee on Foreign Affairs voted to pass out of committee their bipartisan resolution in support of the Three Seas Initiative (3SI), a strategic partnership of twelve Central and Eastern European nations with the shared goal to foster energy, digital, and transportation infrastructure independence and resilience through collective financing of new infrastructure projects, increasing connectivity between the Adriatic, Baltic, and Black Seas, and countering Russian and Chinese malign influence.

Toledo, OH – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), Co-Chair of the Congressional Auto Caucus, released the following statement after General Motors (GM) announced it would invest $71 million in two northwest Ohio manufacturing plants, with $39 million to be invested at the Toledo Transmission plant and $32 million at the Defiance casting plant. The $39 million being invested at Toledo Transmission will be used to upgrade and enhance production of the their 8-speed automatic transmission for use in a variety of Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac rear-wheel-drive vehicles.

Toledo, OH – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) and state Senator Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo) announced that $650 million in federal funding will be distributed to Ohio local governments, with more than $30 million going to communities and villages throughout Lucas County. The additional funding was amended on Tuesday into House Bill 614 in an effort to speed up passage in the Ohio House of Representatives. Local governments may use their allocations, which come from the $4.5 billion Ohio received from the CARES Act earlier this year, for costs directly associated with Covid-19 relief.

Washington, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), released the following statement announcing that the City of Toledo has been awarded $5,700,000 in federal funding to mitigate exposure to lead based paint and other housing-related health and safety hazards among children and families in the Toledo community. $5,000,000 is being administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)'s Lead Hazard Reduction (LHR), which works to protect children from lead exposure. $700,000 is being administered by HUD's Healthy Homes Initiative (HHI), which works to protect children from housing-related health and safety hazards. HUD will announce the award on Friday.
