Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) released the following statement in response to reports that tech glitches and bureaucracy could delay delivery of COVID-19 stimulus checks to a large number of Americans, including millions of seniors who receive Social Security. On Monday, the Internal Revenue Service posted a notice on its website informing Social Security recipients they will have to file a tax return this year:

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) and Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) led a letter to the nation's nine federal student loan servicers urging them to apply emergency financial assistance measures announced by the Department of Education in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis to all of the loans they currently service. The letter was signed by 60 Members of Congress.

Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), senior Member of the House Appropriations Committee, today announced $425,000 in federal funds for The Fair Housing Center in Toledo to strengthen its work to prevent and eliminate housing discrimination. The funds were allocated through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP), which funds fair housing organizations and other nonprofits that assist individuals who believe that they have been victims of housing discrimination.
