Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, announced today that the Lorain County Community Development Department will receive $200,000 in federal funding through the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training program. This funding will provide funding for the recruitment, training, and placement of unemployed and underemployed residents of Lorain County in environmental careers.

Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, announced $53,288,348 in federal investments for communities across Northern Ohio. The funding was provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Specifically, the funding comprises $38,391,672 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), $10,282,141 in HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME), $3,034,624 Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and $1,579,911 in Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) funding.

Fudge (OH-11), Joyce Beatty (OH-03), and Tim Ryan (OH-13) sent a letter urging Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to reject Medicaid block grants for the state of Ohio. On January 30, 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released a plan, entitled "Healthy Adult Opportunity," encouraging states to fund Medicaid through block grants.
