Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) released the following statement after the House passed the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act, which combined the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act into one bill. In a vote of 220-203, Rep. Kaptur joined every House Democrat to pass the bill, while House Republicans were unanimous in their opposition. The bill will now be sent to the Senate for its consideration.
