Washington, DC – Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, is honored to receive Growth Energy’s “2024 Biofuels Champion — Fueling Growth Award” for her steadfast leadership in advancing biofuels policies that benefit farmers, producers, and consumers in Northwest Ohio and across the nation.
Toledo, Ohio – Today, the Lucas County Board of Commissioners voted to enter into an agreement to move forward with a project that will provide a reliable sanitary sewer system in the unsewered areas of Curtice-Williston. Kaptur’s effort will lower ratepayers’ contribution to the project and reduce sewage discharge into the community and Lake Erie.

Leyland, a native of Perrysburg, Ohio, joins the ranks of the greatest in Major League Baseball history with his enshrinement in Cooperstown, New York.

Deborah Lee James, U.S. secretary of the Air Force, visited the Ohio Air National Guard 180th Fighter Wing on Monday, the first time an Air Force secretary has appeared at the base.
Mrs. James, addressing questions about whether her visit was related to the Air Force’s search for two facilities to house the new F-35A Joint Strike Fighter jets, said Toledo is absolutely being considered.
“Toledo has a lot going for it,” Mrs. James said. “I’m really impressed with everything going on here.”

North America’s first offshore freshwater wind project has received a $40 million boost from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
In somewhat of a surprise decision, the funding was awarded to Lake Erie Energy Development Co (LEEDCo) for its “Icebreaker” project, which consists of six 3.45-megawatt turbines located 8-10 miles off the coast of Cleveland.

The revitalization of a downtown Toledo icon got a big boost from the federal government on Thursday.
U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo) announced that funding for the $104 million upgrade and expansion of the historic James M. Ashley and Thomas W.L. Ashley Courthouse has been finalized.
The announcement was made at the beginning of the Civic Center Mall oversight commission’s first meeting in months.
