TOLEDO, OH – On Thursday, May 23, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), Dean of the Ohio Congressional Delegation, and Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) introduced the bipartisan East Palestine Health Impact Monitoring Act of 2024 to authorize funding through Fiscal Year 2028 to conduct a study of the long-term health impacts of the 2023 East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment. Additionally, on Thursday, May 23, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP)  marked up and advanced the bipartisan Senate companion legislation by a vote of 19-2.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development and senior member of the subcommittee on Agriculture applauded the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) for its announcement of a $300 Million allocation aimed at diversifying export markets for American agriculture. This critical funding, part of the new Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP), will support 66 US organizations in their efforts to expand into high-potential markets globally, directly benefiting the agricultural sector in Northwest Ohio.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is giving up $41 million to help farmers. It's Natural Resources Conservation Service made the announcement on Monday during a conference at Maumee Bay State Park.
According to the USDA, the money will add to the $36 million the agency already set aside towards keeping phosphorous out of Lake Erie.
