Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) and Congresswoman Stephanie Bice (OK-05) introduced the Law Enforcement Training for Mental Health Crisis Response Act of 2023. The bipartisan bill would provide grants to law enforcement departments at the state, local, territorial, and tribal level to obtain vital behavioral health crisis response training to resolve behavioral health crisis situations more safely and effectively. Funding for this training would be authorized under the Byrne JAG program funding.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), and Congressman Mike Gallagher (WI-08) introduced the Healthy Farms Healthy Watersheds Act of 2023, a bipartisan, budget-neutral bill to support efficacy in voluntary nutrient runoff management programs that fight harmful algal blooms. Harmful algal blooms (HABs) adversely affect water quality in all 50 states – harming human health, hindering tourism and regional economies, and sinking property values and waterfront business.

Toledo, Ohio – Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee announced that the US Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $1 Million to the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority and Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport in federal investment through its Small Community Air Service Development Program (SCASDP) for a revenue guarantee and associated marketing plan to recruit, initiate, and support new service to a large hub.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, announced a $1,900,000 award to Put-In-Bay Airport to help modernize airport infrastructure. This FAA award funds a portion of a project to replace the existing 55+ year old terminal building at the Put-In-Bay Airport. The new, modern terminal facility will be an approximately 2,500 square feet, single-story building including a public area, baggage room, mechanical room, and two restrooms.
